Key-Loc Joint System

The original interlocking joint-stake keyway system with:

Key-Loc Joint is manufactured from 24-gauge galvanized steel, with dowel knockouts on 6” centers. It is produced in 10’ lengths for 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 8”, and 10”-12” slabs.

Supporting Key-Loc Stakes are manufactured from 13-gauge steel, and are available in 12”, 15”, 18”, 21”, and 24” lengths with nail holes on 1” centers.

KEY-LOC SPLICE

KEY-LOC Splice provides a smooth, even transition between two 10’ sections of keyway. It is a cost effective alternative to using a stake as a butt splice between two sections. Splice box quantity is 200 pieces.

Key-Loc Clips

KEY-LOC Clip mates the KEY-LOC Joint and stake together to form a completely rigid system while keeping KEY-LOC Joint vertical during concrete placement. Clip box quantity is 500 pieces.

Installation Instructions

Step 1

Stretch line over the entire length. Drive the stakes at approximately 2-foot centers. Set stakes to finish floor elevation. (Secure line at top of stakes with tape.) If vinyl cap is used, drive stakes 3/16” deeper.

Step 2

Stakes are driven to the bottom of the line at approximately 2 foot centers. Use extra precaution to see that the stakes are aligned. A 2x4 can be used to help in the vertical alignment.

Step 3

Hang KEY-LOC® JOINT on stakes and push downward. KEY-LOC® JOINT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS in place.

Step 4

Install “snap-in” joint splice. Splice gives perfect alignment of joint ends, no more need to try and place stakes at joint butts for alignment.

Step 5

Plastic Cap use is optional, but strongly recommended. Plastic Cap fits securely over the top of the Key-Loc Joint. The cap can be left in place or removed if plans call for the joint to be sealed.

Step 6

Knockouts are provided at 6” centers along the joint for dowels or rebar penetration. The knockouts should be bent to approximately 45 degrees into the pour to act as anchors, especially when Key-Loc® is used as a shutoff. Install stake clip when it is necessary to pour on the stake side first.

Step 7

When a strip is placed and finished, there are no added and costly steps of cutting, joint treatment, form stripping, edge damage or concrete surface damage.
